Winky D Sando Dzangu Tour
Winky D a.k.a Di Bigman is back in Australia to give yet another tantalising performance following last year’s successful gigs to thousands in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. True to his quintessential form as a social advocate, the vicar for the ghetto youth promises to mesmerise his audience in his upcoming Sando Dzangu Tour which will feature his hot tracks, Sando Dzangu, Wakasara, Taitirana, Ninja Saturday and First Sight.
Winky D, the multi- awards winning artist who has innumerable accolades to his name including the recent People’s Choice Award at Zimbabwean National Arts Merit Awards (NAMA) 2012 promises Sando Dzangu Tour to be filled with organic and cosmic inspiration to tickle every nerve with pulsating ruggedness. As in the track Sando Dzangu, Winky D will invoke his Australian fan to live life in the present and to give due respect to the living.
So far, he has received one such pat on the back, well maybe even better. At his last tour in Australia a female fan literally kissed his feet whilst in an ecstatic throws of jubilation to his lyrical witticism. From afar it seemed contrived to answer to his latter summon, much the tour is an appreciation of the Aussie fans who continue to support him in his evangelical advocacy to heighten depraving circumstances of the ghetto youth. Sando Dzangu Tour promises to resonate even more with the Aussie audience taking it back to the nostalgia of his last tour. And this time Winky D promises even more.
In this second bout Winky D ‘s first leg will be a performance in Sydney on 05th April, Melbourne on 06th April, and Brisbane on 07th April 2012. No doubt the Sando Dzangu Tour we will not fall short of Winky D’s previous successful tours.

Beyonce Knowles will return to the stage in May

Beyonce Knowles will return to the stage in May.
The singer has been enjoying some time off following the birth of daughter Blue Ivy in January but she will make her live comeback over the US Memorial Day weekend.
She will perform on three consecutive nights at the new Revel casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, starting on May 25.
Beyonce's last concerts took place in August, when she played four dates at New York's Roseland Ballroom to promote her latest album '4'.
Before she returns to the stage, the 'Halo' hitmaker will enjoy a holiday with good friend Gwyneth Paltrow.
The two friends - who met through their respective husbands Jay-Z and Coldplay rocker Chris Martin - are believed to have hired a villa in Tuscany, Italy, for a luxury yoga-based break.
Beyonce is expected to take little Blue Ivy, while 39-year-old Gwyneth will include daughter Apple, seven, and son Moses, five, in the trip.
A source said: “They're planning daily yoga sessions at the private five-star villa, which has its own pool.
“Beyonce has also been taking her daughter Blue Ivy to baby yoga classes after Gwyneth recommended it, so they will spend some of the holiday doing that.
“And the pair will get stuck into a menu of Gwyneth's favourite organic grub while they are away.” - Bang Showbiz

Amy Winehouse's Fortune Goes to Mum and Dad—So How Much Was She Worth

Amy Winehouse spent quite a bit of cash on drugs and booze toward the end of her life.
But there's plenty of money left over—all of which will now go to the "Rehab" crooner's parents and not her ex-hubby, Blake Fielder-Civil, who remains jailed for a burglary committed to pay for his drug habit.
So what's the total value of Winehouse's estate?
How about a cool $4.66 million.
According to probate documents obtained by The Sun, because the late diva did not have a will, her father, Mitch, will serve as the administrator of all her assets while Blake, whom she divorced in 2009, will get nary a penny.
Winehouse passed away at the age of 27 at her London home July 23, 2011, and a coroner later determined her death was caused by accidental alcohol poisoning.

Rihanna dismisses questions about Ashton Kutcher

Rihanna dismissed questions about whether she's involved with Ashton Kutcher at a press conference for her debut movie "Battleship."
When asked if the "Two And a Half Men" star would be joining her in London for her promotional trip, Rihanna called the question "disappointing."
The two had been linked following reports that she visited his house in Los Angeles.
She answered the question saying, "I am happy and I'm single, if that is what you are asking."
"Battleship," based on the game by Hasbro, is directed by Peter Berg and puts Rihanna in her first film role. She plays Petty Officer Second Class Cora Raikes, a weapons specialist, alongside Taylor Kitsch and Liam Neeson.
"Battleship" will be released on May 18

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson says he owes his ENTIRE career to a traumatic experience from his childhood

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson says he owes his ENTIRE career to a traumatic experience from his childhood -- a traumatic experience that inspired him to spend every waking hour in the gym.

The confessional was shot for a documentary which chronicled the build up to the Rock's upcoming match against John Cena at Wrestlemania XXVIII this weekend.

During an emotional car ride, Rock opens up about the time he and his family were evicted from their apartment in Hawaii when he was 14 years old.

Rock says he'll never forget the look of despair on his mom's face when she tried to explain why he couldn't sleep in his own bed that night.

As a result, Rock says he resolved to change his life forever ... so he'd never experience anything like that ever again -- and the change began in the weightroom.

Oceana Nightclub M. Keynes Closes - Guilty Friday EVENT moved to Sno!Bar !!

Clubbers in Milton Keynes will be forced to party elsewhere after Oceana has announced it is to close with immediate effect.
Luminar, the city-based nightclub operator, confirmed yesterday that the Milton Keynes club would cease trading at the Xscape complex, resulting in the loss of 85 jobs.
The company fought to keep Oceana open but when prolonged negotiations with the venue landlords broke down Oceana had no choice but to shut its doors.
Stephen Lynn, from Luminar, said: “We would like to thank the team at Oceana for all their hard work and dedication, as well as the clubbers of Milton Keynes & Buckinghamshire for helping create some truly memorable nights.”
When it opened in 2002, Oceana in Milton Keynes was the first of what became a chain of 13 Oceana clubs around the country.
The club boasts a capacity of 2,200 and originally cost £6 million to build, undergoing a £2.5m refit in 2008.
Having hosted performances by world famous acts such as Example, Katy B and DJ Fresh and with an appearance from Tim Westwood planned next month it was with ‘regret and disappointment’ that Luminar broke the news.
However, Mr Lynn assured clubbers that this legal decision does not affect any other Luminar venue in the East Midlands area

TOP TEN JAMAICAN ARTISTS GONE TOO SOON RIP

TOP TEN JAMAICAN ARTISTS GONE TOO SOON RIP

The recent passing of legendary pop songstress, Whitney Houston truly shocked all walks of music life as her angelic voice captivated millions of fans worldwide and inspired many of today's premiere artistes, including within the Dancehall/Reggae fraternity.
Having died at a relatively young age (48), Houston's death triggered memories of many other iconic artistes who passed while enjoying the fruits of their prime like Amy Winehouse or adjusted to the latter stages of their careers like the 'King of Pop,' Michael Jackson. It also offered of similar instances within the Jamaican music industry where fans were left to wonder "What If?" when an artiste's life was taken away while still perfecting their well-regarded craft.
As a measure of remembering the fallen who've made contributions, whether small or large, to the evolution of Jamaican music into a global phenomenon, he's a list of 10 artistes whose impact on music forever resonates with those they've left behind.
10. J.O.E - Born Alty Nunes:
J.O.E was regarded as one of the premiere upstarts in Dancehall/Reggae after his smash hit, Nah Nuh Mercy earned strong acclaim in 2009. The son of renowned dancer, Patsy Ricketts, J.O.E (Jah Ova Evil) seemed to have a promising career in front of him after having previously performed at Reggae Sumfest and St. Mary Mi Come From.
2011 was poised for J.O.E to stamp his authority on the local scene as the Equiknoxx Music recording artiste unveiled two well received singles, Tonight and Rasta Chant. However, J.O.E's life and career were suddenly cut short after the 25-year-old singjay suffered a rupture blood vessel in the head, shocking fans across the industry. His death came just hours after performing a live rendition of Rasta Chant, which was later released in his honor.
9. Copper Cat:
Just two week prior to J.O.E's death, a fellow young cultural artiste,Demar 'Copper Cat' Graham was shot killed outside the home of his adopted father, Richie Stephens. The former Jamaica College student had garnered buzz after the release of his first mainstream single, Mek It Stay in 2008. More success followed in 2010 after unveiling popular songs such as Friend Murderer and Life Goes On, encouraging fans with his upbeat, conscious lyrical tone.
After Copper Cat's senseless killing in January of last year, his final recording, Since You Came In on the Penthouse Records produced, OMG Riddim was released; reminding fans of what could have been for the young star, who was only 22 when he died.
8. Simpleton:
‘A jus di Coca Cola Bottle shape, ah it a run de place,’ was the famous lyric from the classic single, Coca Coca Bottle Shape by Christopher 'Simpleton' Harrison in 1992. The St. Andrew native had a really bright future ahead of him thanks to the single as it earned international acclaim for a Dancehall genre that just began taking shape as a popular form of music. Noteworthy singles such as ¼ to 12 and Drive Me Crazy followed for the promising deejay. But any hopes of recreating similar success to his 90s string of hits were dashed after Simpleton suffered a heart attack at just 33 years old in 2004, ending his career in its prime.
7. Natasja Saad:
Many Dancehall/Reggae fans might raise an eyebrow seeing this name on the list. However, if you remember the chart-topping single, Calabria and the girl who repetitively sang 'Easy now, no need fi go down,' the name might sound more familiar.
Natasja Saad was born in Denmark but had a particular taste for Dancehall music and in 2006, became the first non-Jamaican to win the IRIE FM sponsored, Big Break competition which allowed her to work at that year's staging of Reggae Sumfest. The following year, she recorded vocals for Calabria (featuring Enur) which later topped the Billboard Charts, earned her international acclaim and was remixed featuring Dancehall mega star, Vybz Kartel.
But Saad never got the opportunity to enjoy her overwhelming success after dying in a car accident in Spanish Town during the summer of 2007. She was 33.
6. Oneil Edwards:
A cherished member of universally regarded Dancehall group, Voicemail, Oneil Edwards gained fame for his smooth vocals and dance moves. Alongside, Kevin Blair and Craig Jackson, Edwards scored several hits while a part of Voicemail such as Wacky Dip, Nuh Behavia and Ready To Party amongst several others.
On May 10, 2010, Edwards was robbed and shot several times in front of his Duhaney Park home and underwent several surgeries in an attempt to regain consciousness. However, two week later, Edwards was pronounced dead, leaving a major void in the highly acclaimed group whilst saddening the Dancehall community which later held a vigil in his honor. Since then, Blair and Jackson have carried on Edward’s legacy by continuing to perform as they ensure his music forever lives on.
5. Delroy Wilson:
One of foundation Reggae's pioneers, Delroy Wilson mastered variations of his genre from the age of 13 when he recorded several ska and rocksteady singles. Wilson's career soared in the 70s releasing classics such as Dancing Mood, Raining from the Sky, Better Must Come and Footsteps From Another Man. Wilson's partnership with prominent Reggae producer, Bunny Lee helped Wilson enjoy chart success in the United Kingdom while his collaboration with fellow Reggae icon, Bob Andy produced another chart-topper, Last Thing on My Mind in 1976.
However, Wilson's soothing voice and tender lyrical touch soon faded thereafter as releases became less common in the 1980s while his health slowly deteriorated. In 1995, a year after receiving a special plaque recognizing his musical contributions, Wilson died from cirrhosis of the liver at only 46 years old. Since his death, several dub plates and covers of his singles have been released in his honor and a remix of Raining From The Sky was recently released featuring his daughter and upcoming Reggae singer, Shana Wilson.
4. Dennis Brown:
A prolific singer with over 75 albums to his credit, Dennis Brown helped set the standard for Reggae music in the 1970s and 80s. Dubbed the 'Crown Prince of Reggae,' by Reggae icon, Bob Marley, Brown mesmerized audiences with classics such as Promised Land, Revolution and Money in my Pocket; earning him acclaim in the United Kingdom and Canada. Brown's singing exploits and occasional ventures into deejaying made him a legend as he teamed with fellow foundation Reggae pioneers such as Bunny Lee, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Sonia Pottinger, Brown's consistency elevated him to legendary status before turning 30; amassing a slew of top 10 hits as well as a pair of Grammy Award nominations in 1994 and 2001 respectively.
By the late 90s, Brown’s health deteriorated after years of cocaine use and later died in 1999 after suffering cardiac arrest at the age of 42. Over the last decade, many tributes have been paid to him, including an honorary concert in 200, the formation of the Dennis Emanuel Brown Trust in 2001 and several remakes of his songs, most notably, Land of Promise by Reggae stalwart, Damian 'Jr. Gong' Marley and American hip-hop superstar, Nas.
3. Peter Tosh:
Renowned for several years as Bob Marley's right-hand man whilst with theThe Wailers, Peter Tosh became a superstar in his own right, writing many of Marley's hits such as Get Up, Stand Up, No Sympathy, amongst others. After leaving Bob Marley and the Wailers in 1974, Tosh became a successful solo artiste with singles such as Legalize It, Rumours of War and Mystic Man whilst also becoming a strong voice during the turbulent political era in the 1970s.
Just months after winning a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, Tosh, 43, was murdered during an attempted robbery at his home in Kingston. Despite having his career shut down shortly after his greatest achievement, Tosh's contributions of music were impeccable; prompting calls by his daughter Niambe Tosh and fellow industry players to make him Jamaica's eighth National Hero.
2. Garnett Silk:
If there was ever a Reggae artiste who could have been next in line to become a local legend, Garnett Silk personified that sentiment. With a divine voice and smooth persona to match, Silk gained popularity withHello Mama Africa in 1992, a debut single that topped the United Kingdomcharts. His thought-provoking lyrics and conscious vibe was somewhat reminiscent of a young Bob Marley as he teamed with fellow Reggae star, Tony Rebel and iconic producer King Jammy to record a slew of hits that immediately elevated him to top-draw status including, Fill Us Up With Your Mercy and Watch Over Our Shoulders.
In 1994, Silk signed a major record deal with American label, Atlantic Records as he looked poised to capitalize on his international success. However, a major void in the future of Jamaican music was soon left when Silk died after attempting to rescue his mother from a house fire. At just 28, Reggae music lost its 'chosen one.'
1. Bob Marley:
Though he died in 1981 of cancer at the tender age of 36, Bob Marley may still go down in history as the greatest musician ever, in any genre. Though his over 20 number one hits and countless chart-topping albums captivated the world during his life, Marley's shocking death somehow enhanced his legacy, most notably when the popular 1984 compilation, Legacy became Jamaican music's most successful album, with over 25 million copies sold worldwide.
Marley's brand, image and lyrics remain strongholds within society, not only because of his abilities as a musician but also his desire to fight and stand up for social causes which made him a revolutionary. His birthday is posthumously celebrated like a holiday across the world and with sons, Stephen and Damian Marley becoming universal successes in their own rights; the appreciation for Marley's legacy may have its strongest impact nearly 31 years after his passing.

Top 10: Best international collaborations involving Jamaican artistes

Top 10: Best international collaborations involving Jamaican artistes

Though musical genres such as hip-hop, rock and roll as well as R&Bmay cop more accolades and mention on the international scene, it’s an undeniable fact thatDancehall/Reggae has left an indelible mark on pop culture worldwide.
Ever since Bob Marley was in his hay day, Jamaican music has impacted and inspired fans, observers and artistes of various backgrounds, with many of today's most prominent acts such as Rihanna, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars and several others employing Dancehall/Reggae sounds in their music. Furthermore, many internationally acclaimed artistes and bands have done successful collaborations with Jamaican artistes, most recently with breakthrough Dancehall artiste, Popcaan and Jamaican born hip-hop star,Busta Rhymes on the Only Man She Want remix.
That joint effort has garnered Popcaan positive international recognition after dominating the local industry in 2011. With that in mind, here's a look a ten memorable collaborations involving Jamaican artistes that helped shape the careers of many prominent Dancehall/Reggae acts.
10: Shabba Ranks feat. KRS-One - The Jam:
In the late 80s, Dancehall was a slowly developing genre which was gaining steam locally and in the Caribbean thanks to artistes like Yellowman andShabba Ranks. However, it was Shabba who would introduce Dancehall to an international fan base as he teamed up with foundation hip-hop artiste, KRS-One for the mixed genre single, The Jam. Featuring a mixture of Dancehall and hip-hop sounds, The Jam introduced the world to Shabba Ranks as a hardcore, sharp-thinking lyricist who could mesh with artistes of different sounds. The collaboration later garnered Shabba his first international recording contract as he signed with Epic Records in 1991. From there, Shabba Ranks never looked back as he scored a pair of Grammy Awards for Best Reggae Album over the next two years and even became a fixture on American Television with famous comedian, Marlon Wayans doing a memorable skit of him on In Living Color.

Nas owes IRS $6.5 million in back taxes

Nas owes IRS $6.5 million in back taxes

If Nas decides to make music anytime soon, he'll be doing it pro bono. The IRS has filed court documents in Georgia ordering the music publishing companies BMI and ASCAP to send royalties earned from his album sales directly to the government, due to a mounting multi-million dollar debt that the rapper has reportedly accumulated due to financial troubles, along with child and spousal support. Rolling Stone reports:
Nas is in some very serious debt. According to public records, the rapper owes the IRSover $6.46 million dollars in back taxes.
The IRS filed a $514,298 tax lien on January 10th, which was added on to a $3 million lien from February 2010 and a $2.5 million lien from October 2009.
Tax debts are not the only significant financial troubles facing the legendary emcee

USA - Dennis Rodman can't pay child support, lawyers says he's 'broke' and 'extremely sick

Court records show that basketball great Dennis Rodman owes more than $800,000 in back child support to his ex-wife, according to TMZ. Dennis and Michelle Rodman have two children for whom the support is owed in addition to $51,441 in unpaid spousal support to Michelle. Rodman's lawyers responded to a filing in the case saying that his client is "broke."
According to his lawyer, Dennis is also "extremely sick" and just isn't making the same bank he made back in his heyday. The lawyer does not specify the nature of Rodman's illness.
According to Dennis' lawyer, the giant child support figure is based on an order Michelle obtained a while ago behind his back -- requiring Rodman to pay $50,000 a month in child support ... an order Dennis has been fighting since 2010.
Dennis' lawyer insists the monthly amount is "unjustified" because it isn't based on Dennis' actual income ... it's based on ludicrous estimates made by Michelle's attorney.
51-year-old Rodman is due in court today for a contempt hearing -- stemming from the child support bill -- and he could be sentenced to 20 days in jail for failure to make payments.

Kartel shaves his head - trial rescheduled for April 13th

Kartel shaves his head - trial rescheduled for April 13th

The drug trial of embattled Jamaican dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel was this morning adjourned in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.  The Deejay appeared in court today in a blue pinstripe suit, white shirt, with a pair of black Bank Robber Clarks. One noticeable difference was his hair cut. Kartel had come under fire last year when he started wearing hair extensions.  When the matter was called up, the court was informed that witnesses were not available. The trial was then rescheduled for April 13. Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, is facing a charge of illegal possession of marijuana. Kartel has been offered $40,000 bail which he cannot take up because of other criminal charges against him. The police said they held Kartel and others in a hotel room in New Kingston last September. A quantity of marijuana was also reportedly found in the room.

Reggae Artiste Sizzla Hits Back At Gay Rights Critics

Prominent Dancehall/Reggae singjay, Sizzla Kalonji has responded sternly to gay rights activists who’ve long criticized the lyrical content of his songs.
Last week, promoters in Sweden cancelled a stage show that Sizzla was booked to appear on this Wednesday at the Hornstull Strand in Stockholm. The show was axed after several gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual activists protested Sizzla's appearance on the bill; condemning his lyrical damnation of homosexuality.
After the latest complaints issued against him by gay rights groups, Sizzla, through his management team at Kalonji Musik and Pride Music, issued a detailed statement firing back at such critics who have long opposed his music and stances on such issues as well as clarifying public misperceptions made about him in recent times.
The statement in part reads, "We work closely with many of the artists in the reggae scene and feel that your constant attack against the artists and the musical genre is unfair and one sided. Sizzla has not even begun to tour, yet press releases have been sent giving misinformation to the public about him performing homophobic lyrics at 18 other shows recently. The tour has not even started and Sizzla was not booked to perform in neither Canada nor England. False information is being written to malice and defame his character. It is good to remember that Sizzla has not been arrested, convicted, or charged with any crime and does not have a criminal record what so ever. He abides and will continue to abide by the laws of any State in the World that he chooses to visit or is invited to visit. It is his nature and his character to respect all."

Revellers can’t have enough of ‘Young Igwe’

Peter Moyo made a surprise appearance at the show pitting Alick Macheso and the Muddy Face at the City Sports Gardens on Sunday. The “Young Igwe” as Moyo is affectionately called, stunned revellers by
his unexpected showing and left them asking for more.
The young man seems to be enjoying a purple patch on the entertainment scene.
It was a fascinating show that was opened  by the promising Muddy Face, who managed to keep revellers on their feet as they chanted their tunes.
Macheso charmed many with his unmatched bass guitar playing skills as he strummed the late Andy Brown’s “Mapurisa”, drawing people closer to the stage, in an emotional tribute to “Muzukuru”.
Macheso was joined on stage by the Young Igwe when he did a rendition of Tongai Moyo’s popular “Samanyemba” tune, much to the delight of the patrons, who went into a frenzy.
Cheso Power pledged his support to upcoming artistes.
“We are going to help Peter (Moyo), Tryson Chimbetu, Biggie Tembo (Jnr) and Muddy Face in their musical exploits. These youngsters need our (experienced artistes’) help,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Orchestra Mberikwazvo leader asked fans at the City Sports Gardens if he should allow “Prodigal Son”  Noel Nyazanda — who unceremoniously left for Sulumani Chimbetu’s Dendera Kings — rejoin his group, and was surprised by the overwhelming vote of approval.
The Muddy Face expressed their gratitude towards the Mberikwazo ensemble, stating the enormous exposure they gained from the show and the reception they got from the fans.
“I am pleased to say that we enjoyed playing here and the fans received us well. We managed to keep revellers on the dance floor during our performance.
“Many thanks go to Mudhara Macheso for his help,” said Shame “Chibage” Mashonganyika.
