Clubbers in Milton Keynes will be forced to party elsewhere after Oceana has announced it is to close with immediate effect.
Luminar, the city-based nightclub operator, confirmed yesterday that the Milton Keynes club would cease trading at the Xscape complex, resulting in the loss of 85 jobs.
The company fought to keep Oceana open but when prolonged negotiations with the venue landlords broke down Oceana had no choice but to shut its doors.
Stephen Lynn, from Luminar, said: “We would like to thank the team at Oceana for all their hard work and dedication, as well as the clubbers of Milton Keynes & Buckinghamshire for helping create some truly memorable nights.”
When it opened in 2002, Oceana in Milton Keynes was the first of what became a chain of 13 Oceana clubs around the country.
The club boasts a capacity of 2,200 and originally cost £6 million to build, undergoing a £2.5m refit in 2008.
Having hosted performances by world famous acts such as Example, Katy B and DJ Fresh and with an appearance from Tim Westwood planned next month it was with ‘regret and disappointment’ that Luminar broke the news.
However, Mr Lynn assured clubbers that this legal decision does not affect any other Luminar venue in the East Midlands area
GUILTY FRIDAY IS STILL ON !!!!!
