Mataz, Taderera join Zimpapers Radio

Mataz, Taderera join Zimpapers Radio

RADIO legends Admire Taderera and Tichafa Matambanadzo have joined new radio station, Talk Radio which is expected to go on air next month.
Taderera, a local radio legend with more than 25 years experience assumes the role of general manager at the station which is owned by media group Zimbabwe News papers (Zimpapers).
Matambanadzo, a popular DJ with extensive experience in Zimbabwe and South Africa has been appointed programmes manager.
Talk Radio is one of the two radio stations licenced recently by the broadcasting authority amid much controversy with critics claiming they are all linked to President Robert Mugabe’s Zanu PF party.
Taderera said progress was on course at the station’s studios in Harare’s Southerton area.
“We have finished all the structural work of the studio and we are hoping that in the next two weeks we will be having our technicians coming in to install the recently purchased state-of-the-art equipment,” Tadera told a government weekly adding the station would be looking for new talent and fresh voices in terms of staff.
“We are looking for fresh talent, voices that have never been heard before, as a way of introducing fresh new voices on the airwaves,” he said. This is a platform for radio listeners to talk to anyone and get answers on anything.”
“We will invite musicians, actors, sculptors, traditional chiefs, sports people, councillors and even politicians. We will engage all the decision makers at different levels so that the nation can talk to them.”
The two stations are expected to help break the virtual monopoly enjoyed by the state-run Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation which operates four radio and two television stations.
However, Taderera – who worked for the ZBC from 1986 to 2007 -- said their role would be to complement the state broadcaster.
“We are not here to compete with ZBH but to complement them. We appreciate the role that they have played for the nation in the last 32 years and we want to help them out,” he said.
