Meet - Teurai Chanakira - Zimbabwean Model, Writer & Founder Elizabeth Chanakira Cancer Trust Zimbabwe
Teurai was born in Zimbabwe but has also lived in Germany,the UK, Australia and has travelled to countries all over the world. Her travel has shaped who she is: independent, open-minded, unafraid to face challenges and easily adaptable to new people and places.
Print modelling and writing are her passions. Modelling is a way for Teurai to creatively express herself through photography. She also uses it as a platform from which to fulfill all her other passions and to inspire, encourage and empower others.
Besides being a regular blogger, her Freelance writing work includes a column titled "Teurai's Take" in an online Australian magazine, Afrimarque and a Health & Lifestyle Column for Faraitoday. In 2011, a Creative journal she compiled with Wizzy Mangoma, "As They Find a Way", was published and is now available to buy through Xlibris Publishing, on Amazon and in Harare, Zimbabwe.
After her mother died of Cancer in December 2010, Teurai founded the Elizabeth Chanakira Cancer Trust in Zimbabwe to raise awareness of the escalating statistics of cancer in Zimbabwe; to raise awareness of how a healthier lifestyle can reduce the risk of cancer, particularly through promoting natural Zimbabwean products and to fundraise for disadvantaged Zimbabwean cancer sufferers. Teurai has found a way to channel her pain by finding a way to bring hope to others.
A major fundraising campaign for Zimbabwean cancer patients and their families commences in April 2012.
